Manchester United unlikely to offer striker new deal

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Manchester United will offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract, reports Sky Sports.

The 35-year-old is currently sidelined until the new year with a knee injury and while some suggested United would hand the Swede a fresh deal, it’s likely that Ibrahimovic’s time at Old Trafford is over.

The former PSG man hasn’t kicked a ball since sustaining the problem in United’s 2-1 Europa League win over Anderlecht in April.

United do have the option of exercising a 12-month extension on Ibrahimovic’s current contract, which expires at the end of June.

The striker enjoyed an impressive season for the Europa League winners, netting more goals (17) than any other United player.

Yet, despite such a respectable campaign, Ibrahimovic is expected to find his name on the club’s list of released players, which is to be published by the Premier League on Friday.

United have lined up a number of targets to replace Ibrahimovic, with Alvaro Morata currently the favourite to succeed the experienced frontman at Old Trafford.
