Chinese club agree €35m deal with Tottenham for Dembele

Tottenham have agreed a deal worth in the region of €35m (£30.8m) with an unnamed Chinese club for the sale of Mousa Dembele, claims French outlet RMC Sport.

Dembele has entered the final 12 months of his existing Tottenham deal and hinted at the end of last season about leaving this summer .

The Belgium international will not make a decision on his future until after the 2018 World Cup, but has made made it clear to Tottenham he has no intentions of renewing with the club.

Dembele’s agent is current in Italy discussing his client's future with all of the top Serie A clubs and Juventus have taken a notable interest in the ageing midfielder.

The Old Lady are already on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer and Max Allegri’s side want to sign one more central midfielder before the start of next season.

Juventus will face competition from rivals Napoli and Inter but it remains to be seen whether any side are willing to match Tottenham’s £30m valuation of the 30-year-old.

Tottenham’s preference has always been to sell Dembele to a Chinese club and they have now taken a huge step closer to achieving that.

It will now come down to whether Dembele, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, is ready to say goodbye to European football for the riches of China.

Of players that have attempted at least 75 dribbles in the last three Premier League campaigns , only Jan Vertonghen (87.3%) has a better success rate than Dembele (87.1%).
