Cess Fabregas must accept a huge pay cut in order to prolong his Chelsea career, claims the London Evening Standard.
Fabregas’ current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and the Spanish midfielder has been linked with a move to AC Milan and return to Arsenal.
The 31-year-old has dropped down the pecking order under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri following the summer arrivals of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.
Despite a lack of regular playing time, Fabregas’ priority is to secure a new Chelsea deal but the west London outfit will only entertain fresh terms if the veteran agrees to takes a pay cut.

Fabregas is currently one of Chelsea’s best-paid players on £160,000-a-week but Sarri’s side have no interest in even matching that.
The former Spain international has not started a Premier League game this season and has only managed 12 minutes playing time as a substitute in the competition.
Fabregas has instead been forced to settle with minutes in cup competitions and he finished Chelsea’s five-goal thriller with Derby in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night as the WhoScored Man of the Match.
Furterhmore, only PAOK midfielder Jose Canas (120.5) averages more passes per Europa League game than Fabregas (102.7) this season.
