West Brom complete signing of England international striker

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the signing of Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez via their official website.

The one time England international has agreed a four-year deal at the Hawthorns as he aims to rebuild a career blighted by injury in recent years.

His lack of playing time since suffering a serious knee injury in 2014 makes the price believed to be in the region of £12m - which would make Rodriguez The Baggies’ second most expensive signing in their history - represents a significant gamble from the club.

Tony Pulis was understandably keen to add firepower to his ranks after starting striker Salomon Rondon ended the previous campaign with a modest 8 goals, just one of which came in 2017.

That said, Rodriguez scored just 5 league goals for Saints last season, and hasn’t started ten league games in a season since the 2013/14 campaign. West Brom will hope he can recapture the sort of form and fitness that saw the 27-year-old net 15 times that season.
