West Ham defender Winston Reid is on the cusp of earning himself a new £70,000-a-week contract at the club, according to The Daily Mirror.
Reid, 28, is only two years into the staggering six-year deal he signed in 2015 but the New Zealand international is set to be rewarded with a fresh deal that will bring his wages in line with January arrival Jose Fonte.
Fonte’s arrival has not only failed to improve West Ham’s defensive record but it is also causing problems among other players who are now looking to be paid similar to the 33-year-old former Southampton captain.
Reid has spent the last seven years of his career at West Ham and has established himself as one of their best players in that time, even being linked with a move to Arsenal in the past.
In 144 appearances in the Premier League since joining West Ham, Reid has only committed two errors that have directly led to an opposition shot on goal.
