Everton have joined the race to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, claims The Daily Mirror.
Ndombele has emerged as one of the most sought after young central midfielders in Europe this season.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to sign a long-term replacement for Fernandinho and has reportedly identified Ndombele as a potential target.
The 21-year-old earned his senior France debut in October as a reward for his impressive displays for Lyon this season.
Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong appears to be City’s first choice target at the moment and Everton are now eying an audacious swoop for Ndombele.
Everton have Andre Gomes on loan from Barcelona this season but it’s not a foregone conclusion they will make his switch permanent.
Everton chief scout Martyn Glover has regularly scouted Ndombele this season but they will face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals.
Ndombele has provided four assists in 14 league appearances this season and scored two in four games in the Champions League.
