Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has revealed they have rejected Atletico Madrid’s €60m offer plus two unnamed players for Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain, 28, has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli this summer after reportedly falling out with the club over broken promises.
Arsenal and Juventus have been regularly mooted with the Argentina international this summer but De Laurentiis has confirmed that Atletico are the latest club to fail in their pursuit of the striker.
“Atletico offered us 60 million plus two players but we turned that down, let’s see if Arsenal can do better,” he is quoted as saying by Marca.
Higuain scored 36 goals in Serie A last season and fired Napoli close to a historic league title.
