Tottenham value Everton wantaway at £25m

Tottenham still want to sign Ross Barkley but are reluctant to pay more than £25m for the Everton midfielder, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Barkley has entered the final 12 months of his existing Everton deal and Ronald Koeman has already confirmed the midfielder will be sold before the end of the month.

The England international has long been linked with a move to Tottenham but the finances involved have proved a major stumbling block for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Everton put a staggering £50m valuation on Barkley’s head at the start of the summer but Tottenham are only willing to pay up to half of them, while the 23-year-old will also need to revise his own contract demands.

Tottenham are yet to make a single signing this summer and may need to assess the Barkley situation quickly, with Chelsea also now firmly interested in signing the Everton No.8.

The reigning Premier League champions would not blink at paying Barkley more than £100,000-a-week, but Tottenham are adamant they will not compromise their wage structure in order to land him.

Barkley has been dispossessed more times than any other midfielder in the last four Premier League campaigns (281).
