Team News

Dundee FC
Kilmarnock
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made three changes from the Dee team that was knocked out of the Scottish League Cup after losing 3-0 to Rangers at Ibrox, before Aberdeen defeated Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park last weekend.
  • Jon McCracken replaced Trevor Carson in goal. The Dee switched to a back three as Clark Robertson came in for Seun Adewumi to join Billy Koumetio and Antonio Portales at the back. Ethan Ingram took the injured Jordan McGhee's spot at right wing-back.
  • Sam Braybrooke continued alongside Lyall Cameron and Mo Sylla in the middle of the park as Ziyad Larkeche remained at left wing-back. Scott Tiffoney partnered Simon Murray, who netted a consolation from the spot, in attack against Aberdeen.
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes made two changes after Killie picked up a point in Paisley thanks to a 2-2 stalemate against St Mirren at the SMISA Stadium, before they were held at home in a 3-3 draw against Dundee United last Saturday.
  • Kieran O'Hara continued in goal behind a back four of Corrie Ndada, Stuart Findlay and Jack Burroughs, who were joined by Lewis Mayo as he took the suspended Joe Wright's place at centre-back.
  • Matty Kennedy and Danny Armstrong continued on the flanks, with Liam Polworth and Brad Lyons - who took super sub David Watson's place in the middle of the park - in midfield. Kyle Vassell was joined by Marley Watkins up front against United.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's Scottish Premiership top six meet at Dens Park as Dundee and Kilmarnock go toe-to-toe on Tayside this weekend.
  • The Dee avoided losing against Aberdeen last season, picking up five points in three meetings in the 2023/24 campaign, but Dundee were defeated by the Dons at Dens last weekend. Slipping to eighth, the hosts are winless in three league matches having won one of six so far. This weekend is a good chance to get back to winning ways in front of their own supporters, against a Killie team yet to record a league victory.
  • Kilmarnock spurned a golden chance to clinch a third successive league victory over Dundee United for the first time since February 2002. Killie hadn't opened a Scottish Premiership season without victory in their opening six games since 2017/18, where they went eight straight without a win. The longer they go without collecting three points, then the trickier it becomes to get the monkey off their back.
  • All four league meetings between Dundee and Kilmarnock were draws last season but, given Killie's poor recent run, the Dee are winless against Killie in three years so are due a victory against the visitors this weekend.
