Team News

Celtic
Dundee United
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named four changes to the Celts side that fell to a rare derby day defeat as they lost 3-0 to Rangers at Ibrox, before they bounced back with a victory over St Mirren at Parkhead by the same scoreline.
  • Kasper Schmeichel carried on in goal behind Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty, who replaced Liam Scales at the heart of the Hoops' defence. Greg Taylor continued at left-back, as Alistair Johnston remained at right-back.
  • Club captain Callum McGregor was joined by Arne Engels and Luke McCowan in midfield as Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo made way. Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn supported lone striker Adam Idah, who took Kyogo Furuhashi's place up front.
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named three changes to the Terrors team that beat Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park in the derby to start 2025 in style, before a sole-goal defeat to Hearts at Tannadice at the weekend.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind Emmanuel Adegboyega, Kevin Holt and Declan Gallagher who came into the United backline. Ryan Strain and Will Ferry continued at right wing-back and left wing-back respectively.
  • Vicko Sevelj was joined by Richard Odada, as opposed to Ross Docherty in midfield. Miller Thomson replaced Glenn Middleton to join Luca Stephenson in support of lone striker Sam Dalby, the Scottish Premiership's top scorer.

Prediction

  • First meets third, as Celtic and Dundee United go head-to-head at Parkhead in one of two Scottish Premiership fixtures taking place on Wednesday night.
  • Celtic have lost just one of their last 73 Scottish Premiership matches at Parkhead, winning 62 and drawing 10, and winning 17 of their last 19 since losing at home to Hearts in December 2023. The Hoops have won six successive league games at Celtic Park, while also keeping a clean sheet in each match, for the first time since February 2019 and will fancy making it a magnificent seven in midweek.
  • Dundee United missed the chance to record consecutive Scottish Premiership victories against Hearts, after winning 1-0 at Tynecastle in September, for the first time since March 2014 after losing by a sole goal to the Jambos. The Terrors missed the chance to win four successive Scottish Premiership matches for the first time since a run of five back in December 2013, but did draw with Celtic at Tannadice.
  • Dundee United are one of three teams to take a point from Celtic so far this season, after a goalless draw at Tannadice last month, but the Hoops could hammer the Terrors here given their rich vein of form at home.
