Team News

St. Mirren
Motherwell
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson named an unchanged Saints eleven after a wonderful 2-1 win over Aberdeen in Paisley was succeded by a disappointing defeat to Dundee United where they lost 2-0 at Tannadice last weekend.
  • Ellery Balcombe continued in goal behind Richard Taylor, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser in the Buddies' unchanged back three. Elvis Bwomono continued at right wing-back and Scott Tanser remained at left wing-back.
  • Killian Phillips started alongside club captain Mark O'Hara in the middle of the park. Conor McMenamin joined Greg Kiltie in support of lone striker Toyosi Olusanya for the Buddies, before they lost in their last league match.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named four changes to the Steelmen side that was blown away 3-0 at Fir Park by Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, before a 4-1 demolition by Dundee at Dens in their midweek match.
  • Aston Oxborough remained in goal behind Dan Casey, Kofi Balmer and Liam Gordon. Jair Tavares was handed his first Steelmen start at right wing-back, replacing Marvin Kaleta, as Steve Seddon took Davor Zdravkovski's spot on the left.
  • Andy Halliday made way for Harry Paton to accompany Lennon Miller and Ewan Wilson in the middle of the park. Tawanda Maswanhise dropped out of the starting eleven for Tony Watt to partner Apostolos Stamatelopoulos in attack.

Prediction

  • Both St Mirren and Motherwell are looking to put disappointing defeats in their last Scottish Premiership matches behind them, as the two teams face off in Paisley this weekend.
  • St Mirren missed out on the chance to win three consecutive Scottish Premiership matches for the first time since August 2022, as they were defeated by Dundee United at Tannadice where their losing run against the Terrors - having failed to score a goal against them this season - continued. However, only the league's top three teams have better home records than Saints this season.
  • Motherwell stand in St Mirren's way, but the Steelmen have began to stutter as they've fallen to sixth spot in the Scottish Premiership standings. Three league defeats on the spin, where both goals have proved nothing more than consolations, is a concern. The Well will want to get back to winning ways to preserve their spot in the top six, even if we have only just entered December.
  • St Mirren have proved a tough nut to crack in Paisley recently, and should take advantage of a Motherwell team who have conceded nine goals in their last three league matches.
