Team News

Ross County
Hearts
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made four changes after the Staggies failed to make their numerical advantage count in a 2-1 defeat in Dingwall to St Mirren, before a wonderful 3-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park on Boxing Day.
  • Jordan Amissah was handed his County debut between the sticks, replacing Jack Hamilton. Ryan Leak took Scott Allardice's spot to join Kacper Lopata and Akil Wright in the Staggies defence.
  • Aidan Denholm, who can't face his parent club here, replaced Josh Nisbet in midfield to join Connor Randall and Noah Chilvers. Jordan White made way for Jack Grieves to support lone striker Ronan Hale.
  • Hearts boss Neil Critchley named two changes after the Jambos returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against St Johnstone, before a derby defeat at Tynecastle for the first time in five years as they lost to Hibernian on Boxing Day.
  • Craig Gordon remained in goal for the Jambos. Daniel Oyegoke moved to right-back with James Penrice continuing on the left hand side. Craig Halkett replaced Adam Forrester to join Kye Rowles at the heart of the defence.
  • Beni Baningime replaced Malachi Boateng in the middle of the park to accompany Cammy Devlin, who is suspended this weekend. Musa Drammeh and Blair Spittal joined Lawrence Shankland, in support of teenage talent James Wilson up front.

Prediction

  • Two of the Scottish Premiership's bottom three meet in the Highlands, as Ross County host Hearts in Dingwall on Sunday afternoon.
  • Ross County ended a 15-month wait for a Scottish Premiership victory away from home, with a wonderful 3-0 win against Dundee at Dens Park putting their away day demons to rest after waiting since September 2023 for a victory on their travels. The Staggies succumbed to a late leveller in the reverse fixture against Hearts in September, so will want the win this weekend.
  • Hearts slipped down into the relegation playoff place, as a result of Ross County's victory over Dundee and a rare Edinburgh derby defeat at Tynecastle, and the Jambos have already lost more league matches (11) than they did in the 2023/24 campaign (10). Defeat here would leave Hearts five points behind Ross County, and pressure would pile onto the capital club's top-tier status.
  • The lowest two scoring teams in the division go head-to-head in the Highlands here, but Ross County should've snuck past Hearts in Edinburgh so will want to do so in Dingwall.
