Team News

Kilmarnock
Ross County
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named two changes to the Killie team that lost by a sole goal to Hibernian at Easter Road as 2024 ended in defeat, before 2025 began with a 2-0 success against St Mirren at Rugby Park on Thursday afternoon.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal, behind the incoming Robbie Deas, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo in the Killie backline. Danny Armstrong was sent off against Hibs, so Fraser Murray shifted over to the right as Corrie Ndaba continued on the left.
  • Liam Polworth and Brad Lyons were chosen in midfield, as David Watson made way for Bruce Anderson - who bagged a brace against the Buddies. Kyle Vassell was joined by Bobby Wales in the Killie attack.
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made three changes after the Staggies' dramatic 2-2 draw in Dingwall with Hearts, before an impressive 2-1 victory on the road against Aberdeen at Pittodrie to kick off 2025 in emphatic fashion.
  • Jordan Amissah remained in goal behind an unchanged back three of Ryan Leak, Kacper Lopata and Akil Wright. Michee Efete switched out to left wing-back, as George Harmon dropped onto the bench for James Brown to start on the right.
  • Nohan Kenneh replaced Jack Grieves in midfield to join Connor Randall, Noah Chilvers and Josh Nisbet. Ronan Hale was also sat amongst the substitutes, as Jordan White started as the Staggies' sole striker.

Prediction

  • Both Kilmarnock and Ross County kicked off 2025 with victories in the Scottish Premiership, as the side in eighth meets the tenth-placed team at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.
  • Kilmarnock's excellent recent record against St Mirren continued, as they haven't lost a league match to the Buddies in ten attempts since a 2-0 defeat in February 2021. Killie haven't lost a top-tier league game to Saints in Ayrshire for over a decade, since a 3-1 loss back in May 2013. The aim is to keep climbing, as they're now three points away from the side who they just beat in fifth.
  • Ross County had waited over a year for a victory on their travels, having beaten this weekend's opponents Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in September 2023, before their away day delight versus Dundee at Dens was succeeded by a superb win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Two away league wins in as many matches, County hope that the only way is up and away from a basement battle.
  • Ross County won the last league match between the two teams in Dingwall, but Killie won the last meeting in Ayrshire and will want to repeat the feat this weekend despite the Staggies' recent upturn in form.
