Aston Villa plot audacious move for Arsenal outcast

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has made an audacious move to try and sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, reports The Daily Mirror.

Bruce has already managed to convince John Terry to step down to the Championship this summer and is now looking to repeat the trick with Wilshere.

Villa are even willing to land the England international on a permanent deal but it remains to be seen whether they could finance a potential big fee.

There is also the fact that Wilshere may not be willing to drop down to England’s second tier to kickstart his future, given he is 11 years younger than Terry.

Wilshere, however, seemingly has no long-term future at Arsenal anymore after dropping down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger in the last 12 months.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth where he appeared to put his injury woes behind him before breaking his leg in April.

Wilshere is currently stepping up his return to first-team action with the Arsenal U23s and Villa have already made enquires about a potential summer switch.

Since the start of last season, only Kevin De Bruyne (9) and Paul Pogba (6) have been denied by the woodwork more times than Wilshere (5) in the Premier League.
