France international wants Arsenal move

Moussa Sissoko has revealed he wants to leave Newcastle United this summer and wants to join Arsenal.

The Newcastle captain has spent the last three years at St. James’ Park but has been very open his desire to play in the Champions League.

Rafa Benitez’s side are expected to lose some of their best players after they were relegated from the Premier League last season and Sissoko is one of those looking to push for a move this summer.

“Today, if I played in the Championship, I would put my place with the French national team in jeopardy and in terms of many other things. I have already had a discussion with him [Benitez],” Sissoko told Foot Mercato, via Get French Football.

“My advisors will also have a discussion with him. I think he knows what I want, where I want to go. So I hope that there will not be a problem for me to go and enjoy myself at another club.”

The France international has been regularly linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and the 26-year-old has ramped up the heat after admitting he wants to play for Arsene Wenger’s side next season.

Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka and are locked in talks to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, with many feeling another right winger would mould them into genuine title contenders.

“It is very flattering. Arsenal is one of the best European teams,” Sissoko continued. “To be watched by that sort of club, that proves that you are a quality player. It is good to know. I hope that I will have the chance, soon to play for this club or for a similar club.”

“It is a very big European club. I think that very people would refuse to play for this club. Everyone knows, I often said it when I was young, Arsenal is the club of my heart, because there were quite a few French players there like Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord, Patrick Vieira who was my idol…

“The beautiful Arsenal. We will see. I cannot tell you if I am going to Arsenal.”

Since joining Newcastle in 2013 only Eden Hazard (401), Wilfried Zaha (257) and Ross Barkley (247) have completed more dribbles than Sissoko in the Premier League (242).
