Maguire has agreement to leave Leicester

Leicester will honour an agreement between Harry Maguire and the club’s late owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, to allow the sought after defender to leave this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.

Maguire has emerged as a top transfer target for Manchester City and Manchester United, as both Premier League giants plan to upgrade their defensive options for the new season.

The 26-year-old has developed into the best centre-back outside the top-six clubs in the Premier League over the last two years and Leicester would ideally like to keep him.

However, it has now emerged Leicester’s late owner struck a gentleman’s agreement with Maguire 12 months ago that would allow the hulking defender to secure a move away this summer.

Leicester will honour Maguire’s desire to play for one of the biggest clubs in England as long as they are happy with the fee.

While United are prepared to shatter the world record fee paid for a defender to land Maguire, City are reportedly only go as high as £80m for their first choice replacement for Vincent Kompany.

Maguire has completed the most dribbles of any centre-back over the last two Premier League campaigns (67).
