Newcastle summer signing not against January exit

Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin is not opposed to leaving St. James’ Park In January even though it would mean he couldn’t play until next season, according to French outlet Mercato 365.

Thauvin, 22, only joined Newcastle from Marseille at the start of the season but has failed to settle and is now reportedly seriously regretting his decision to join the Magpies.

The France U21 international, who has a contract with Newcastle until June 2020, faces the same dilemma that stifled Hatem Ben Arfa’s return to France last summer.

FIFA regulations do not allow players to represent three teams in one season and having featured for Marseille at the start of the season Thauvin faces the prospect of not playing football until next season should he move on when the transfer window reopens in January.
