Manchester City target refuses to commit future to Tottenham

Kyle Walker has refused to commit his future to Tottenham as speculation mounts over a possible switch to Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium this summer amidst reports he and Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino have had a falling out.

City head coach Pep Guardiola is keen to add a new right-back to the ranks following the releases of Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna.

An official bid is yet to be made, but Walker has done little to nip the rumours in the bud, telling Sky Sports via the Independent when asked on his future at Spurs: “No, no indication at all. No.”

Walker, 27, is on international duty with England ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Scotland, but he insists that the reports linking him with a move away from Spurs have done little to distract him.

"Not at all. I mean, you know coming away from club football kind of gives you a little bit of headspace,” the right-back said.

"I am an England player now and I am fully focused on a massive game on Saturday. We need to go and get the three points."

Towards the end of last season, Walker lost his starting spot to Kieran Trippier, but the former insists he holds no animosity towards the latter, adding: "I think it has pushed us both on as players, most definitely.

"We get the best out of each other and even if Tripps plays or I play, we've said privately to each other that we will each other on.

"I don't ever say a bad word or wish bad on him because it's more about the team rather than individual performances.

"We're putting on our England shirt now and whoever gets the nod I am sure the other one will be fully behind it.

"I've known Tripps since Under-19s. We had a tournament with England in Ukraine. I played centre-half and he played right-back, I do believe.

"You know, it was a friendly rivalry and we got on. We get along well, we're two northern boys down south so we bounce off each other like that and we get along really well."
