Arsenal consider summer move for Everton idol

Arsenal are pondering a summer move for Everton man Idrissa Gueye in a bid to improve their midfield, reports the Sun.

The Senegal international has been a standout star for the Toffees this term and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with some suggesting he is the Premier League’s signing of the season.

Gueye has made more tackles (102) than any other player in England’s top tier this term and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has identified the 27-year-old as a possible summer arrival.

Everton would be reluctant to lose their midfield lynchpin considering his impact following his arrival from Aston Villa and are planning to offer him a new deal to ward off interest from potential suitors.

The Gunners are keen to add power to their midfield with Gueye high on the club’s wishlist, with Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka faltering.

Gueye is attracting interest from Spain and Italy, though Arsenal are confident they can win any race to sign the midfielder.

Everton spent just £7.1m to sign Gueye from Villa and stand to make a huge profit on him should the elect to sell, though are understandably eager to retain his services.
