Paris Saint-Germain will make a move for former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to replace Unai Emery if their poor results continue, reports Telefoot, via AS.
Emery, 45, was only appointed as Laurent Blanc’s successor at the start of the season after leading Sevilla to a third Europa League title in a row but has made a poor start to life at the Ligue 1 champions and is already under immense pressure.
PSG’s 2-1 defeat to Guingamp on Sunday was their fourth league defeat of the season – they only managed two losses under Blanc last season, and has left the capital side seven points adrift of Ligue 1 leaders Nice.
Their director of football, Patrick Kluivert, has reportedly suggested compatriot Van Gaal as a potential replacement for Emery, who has been out of work since being sacked by United at the end of last season.
Van Gaal’s two years at United were widely considered to be a disappointment, although he did finish as an FA Cup winner before being replaced by Jose Mourinho in May.
In 692 days as United manager Van Gaal finished with a win ratio of 52.4%, which is his lowest success rate of any club he has been a manager in his career.
