Manchester United star putting in extra training sessions

Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez has been staying behind after Jose Mourinho’s main training sessions to work on his fitness in a bid to return to his best form, claims The Sun.

Sanchez is still looking to rediscover his world-beating form from last season but his mixed performances can be attributed to the fact he was unsettled at Arsenal and not playing regularly.

The Chile international finally secured a January move away from the Gunners and the United ace has been putting in extra work in a bid to get back to his sharpest form.

Sanchez has reportedly been staying behind for an extra half an hour after Mourinho’s main sessions to work on his fitness, although this is not compulsory and has been done completely off his own back.

The 29-year-old scored on his home debut for United in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield and Mourinho will hope to see the best from his new star man as quickly as possible.

Mourinho has already conceded that United are fighting for second place in the Premier League but the Red Devils will resume their Champions League campaign at the end of the month when they play Sevilla in the first knockout phase.

Sanchez is eligible to play for United having only featured in the Europa League group stage for Arsenal during the first half of the season and could prove the difference for Mourinho’s side as they look to win the Champions League for the first time in a decade.

The United No.7 has played a direct hand in 14 goals in 15 games in his last two Champions League campaigns (six goals, eight assists).
