United in shock €40m swoop for La Liga defender

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Villarreal defender Eric Bailly, according to Sky Sports.

Bailly, 22, who can play across the defence, only joined Villarreal from Espanyol in January 2015 but his performances have seemingly attracted interest from Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

All four clubs are reportedly in talks with Villarreal, which has driven the transfer fee in excess of £30m and now they are all looking to win Bailly over with the better contract.
