Van Persie makes Fenerbahce switch

Fenerbahce have secured the services of Dutch striker Robin van Persie from Manchester United, the club has confirmed.

The Turkish side had been expected to sign the Netherlands international over the weekend and after he flew in for a medical on Sunday, the Yellow Canaries have now announced he is a Fenerbahce player.

Van Persie impressed for the Dutch national team under Louis van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup, but failed to replicate his performances for United last season.

United have since opted to cash in on the striker, rather than lose him on a free next summer with the former Arsenal star previously entering the final year of his contract.

Van Persie makes Fenerbahce switch

The 31-year-old becomes the second player to make the switch to Fenerbahce from United this transfer window after winger Nani moved to the Super Lig giants earlier this month.

Despite making just 25 league starts last season, only Wayne Rooney (12) scored more goals than Van Persie (10) of all United players.
