Leicester rival Valencia for Serie A midfielder

Leicester have entered the race to sign Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Praet has spent the last three years at Sampdoria but the 25-year-old looks set for a high profile move away from the Italian outfit this summer.

Valencia, who have beaten West Ham to the signature of Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, are the frontrunners to land the Belgium international.

The Spanish side are currently in talks to sell Jeison Murillo to Sampdoria on an initial season-long loan deal and are keen on signing Praet in a separate transfer.

Valencia are bolstering their squad for Champions League football next season but now face competition from Leicester for Praet.

Leicester broke their club-transfer record to make Youri Tielemans’ move from Monaco permanent earlier this week and Brendan Rodgers is eyeing another midfield addition this summer.

Praet has been a first-team regular for Sampdoria in the last two years, starting 64 league games out of a possible 76 in that time.

He has played a direct hand in nine league goals in that period (three goals, six assists) and has completed more tackles than any other team-mate in Serie A in that period (148).
