Leicester City had scouts in attendance for Fiorentina’s 2-0 defeat to Empoli on Sunday to watch Josip Ilicic, according to Sport Mediaset, via Football Italia.
The Foxes are guaranteed Champions League football following the weekend’s results and will need to bolster their squad next season to handle added competition.
According to Sport Mediaset, Leicester’s director of sport Jon Rudkin was at the Stadio Castellani where Ilicic struggled to have any significant influence in the defeat.
However, the 28-year-old is enjoying his most prolific season to date for Fiorentina and would be an impressive pick up for Leicester if they decide to step up their interest.
With Fiorentina on course to miss out on Champions League football next season, Ilicic could favour a move to the King Power Stadium where he would be able to perform on the biggest stage.
In fact, only four players have played a direct hand in more goals than Ilicic in Serie A this season (17).
