Manchester United outcast to miss out on January exit

French side Nice have cooled their interest in out of favour Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, claims Sky Sports.

Lingard has dropped completley down the pecking order at Old Trafford in the last 12 months after enduring troubles on and off the field.

United means everything to Lingard but the former England international is now at the point in his career where he just wants to play football.

The 28-year-old has been linked with moves across Europe and while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sympathetic towards Lingard's situation he would like to avoid a January departure.

United recently triggered a 12-month extension in Lingard's contract to retain his services until the summer of 2021 but it's unlikely he will stay beyond the summer.

French side Nice held initial discussions with Lingard's representatives about a potential loan switch this month but they have now decided against a move.

Lingard is yet to feature in the Premier League this season and has only made the matchday squad four times out of a possible 18 matches.
