Roma are interested in handing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart a route back to Italy as the Serie A giants prepare for Wojciech Szczesny’s departure, reports The Daily Mail.
Hart endured mixed reviews from his loan spell at Serie A side Torino this season and came in for criticism from the club’s president towards the end of the campaign for the amount of errors he committed.
The England international still enjoyed his time in Italy but his preference is to return to the Premier League, although it remains to be seen whether there is a club bigger than Roma in England that wants to sign the City outcast.
Roma, who do not currently have a manager, are preparing for life without Szczesny as his two-year loan deal from Arsenal draws to a close this summer. The Poland international has been immense for the Giallorossi this season but is now being linked with a move to Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan.
Hart has no future under Pep Guardiola after being exiled last summer, and with the club on the verge of setting a British transfer record for a goalkeeper by signing Benfica ace Ederson, his future is certainly away from the Etihad.
However, a major stumbling block for Roma could be City's £20m valuation and £130,000-a-week salary. Hart has also already intimated that his next move should be a permanent one after turning 30 in April.
Only Palermo goalkeeper Josip Posavec (7) committed more errors that directly led to an opposition goal in Serie A this season than Hart (5).
