Ajax agree fee to re-sign Manchester United outcast

Ajax have reached an agreement in principle to re-sign Daley Blind from Manchester United, claims Sky Sports.

Blind left Ajax to join United for £13.8m after the 2014 World Cup but the Netherlands international has gradually dropped out of the picture under Jose Mourinho.

The 28-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing United contract and now Ajax have reached an agreement worth an initial £14.1m which could increase to £18.5m with add-ons.

Blind is back in pre-season training with United but is expected to formalise a return to Ajax before Mourinho’s side jet off for their pre-season tour of America next week.

The Dutchman has proved a good squad player for United during his four years at the club but simply isn’t a Mourinho player. He makes up for his lack of speed and physicality with great reading of the game.

Blind was limited to just seven appearances in the Premier League last season, but did start six matches in United’s Champions League campaign.

In fact, only Romelu Lukaku (7.70) earned a higher WhoScored rating of all United players (2+ apps) in the Champions League last season.
