Liverpool have agreed a £25m fee with Newcastle United for midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to Sky Sports.
Tottenham had been leading the race to sign the Newcastle man but pulled the plug on the deal after refusing to meet the Magpies’ valuation.
Liverpool swooped in to take advantage of the situation and have offered the 25-year-old a five-year dal with Wijnaldum set to undergo his medical in the coming days.
Newcastle only signed Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5m last summer and the midfielder scored each of his 11 league goals at St. James’ Park last season.
