Martial on the verge of signing new Manchester United deal

Anthony Martial is on the verge of pledging his long-term future to Manchester United, claims The Daily Mail.

Martial’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season but significant progress has been made on a new contract since Jose Mourinho was sacked before Christmas.

The France international endured a tough relationship with Mourinho and the Portuguese was even willing to sell the 23-year-old in order to fund a move for Ivan Perisic from Inter.

United blocked Martial’s departure and now he is expected to sign a new long-term deal this week, extending his stay until the summer of 2024.

Martial actually hit a purple-patch of form prior to Mourinho’s departure, where he netted in five straight league matches.

The United No.11 missed Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Burnley through injury but has started five of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s nine matches in charge.

Since making a shock £36m move from Monaco in September 2015, Martial has scored at least seven more Premier League goals than any other player at the club (32).
