Premier League midfielder wants Paris Saint-Germain move

Everton ace Idrissa Gueye has revealed his disappointment at not joining Paris Saint-Germain in January and still hopes to join the French side in the future.

Gueye emerged as a top transfer target for French giants Paris Saint-Germain last month but Everton blocked his departure.

The 29-year-old was hopeful of joining PSG for the second half of the season and Thomas Tuchel’s side even bid £26.2m for the defensive midfielder on Deadline Day.

Gueye has since lamented the fact he could not secure a dream move to PSG but is determined to earn a move to a top European side at the end of the season.

“It is a dream that sadly did not come true. Every player works to join the best teams, to play in matches in the Champions League,” he told L’Equipe.

“But I was honoured that PSG were interested in me. Now, I know that I am of interest to these types of clubs, I am ready to go to the final level to join a top European club.

“I am going to work even more so that they come back to me. Maybe it is not finished with PSG. PSG asked my leaders to find out how I could leave. But Everton put the brakes on right away. They did not want to sell me. I pushed.

“I saw the directors to tell them of my desire to go to Paris, it was a golden opportunity, a huge challenge not to miss at 29 years old.”

Gueye has drawn comparisons to N’Golo Kante since moving to the Premier League from France in August 2016.

In that time, Gueye has completed at least 54 more tackles and interceptions combined than any other player in the Premier League (544).
