Alexis Sanchez reveals real reason he joined Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez has hailed Manchester United as the biggest club in England and insists he moved to Old Trafford to win every trophy.

The 29-year-old completed a stunning transfer to United from Arsenal last month when it seemed a foregone conclusion he would move to Manchester City to reunite with Pep Guardiola.

United have reportedly made Sanchez the best paid player in Premier League history but the Chile international insists it’s silverware and not money that convinced him to side with Jose Mourinho's side.

“I think Manchester United, since I was young - and I’m not just saying this because I’m here, I’m an honest guy and I never lie - I think it’s the biggest club in England,” he told Sky Sports. “That’s what I think.

“There are lots of big clubs, and having played for Arsenal, they are also one of them. It’s a huge club and I was there. But coming here, looking at the badge, I think United have to win everything because it’s such a big club. The club crest says it all.

“I came here to win [silverware]. I left Arsenal because I wanted to develop and learn as a player, and get to experience a new club. Manchester United are a huge club on the global stage. I came here to win everything. Otherwise I wouldn’t have come here.”

Sanchez is still looking to rediscover his best form this season but has reportedly been putting in extra training sessions in a bid to fine tune his game and match sharpness.

The United No.7 opened his account for the Red Devils in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield and will look to add to his tally in Sunday’s trip to Newcastle.

Sanchez has a good record against newly-promoted teams, netting eight goals in his last 10 matches against them.
