Mkhitaryan a doubt for the Manchester derby

Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits he doesn’t know if he will be fit in time for the Manchester derby on Saturday.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder picked up a thigh injury during the international break while on duty with Armenia.

Jose Mourinho has surprisingly held Mkhitaryan in reserve since joining in a £26.3m deal over the summer but it now looks like his wait for his first start will go on.

“I continue extensively my rehabilitation, but I’m not sure yet if I will be fit for the derby this weekend,” The Daily Mail quote the 27-year-old as saying. “I’m motivated as ever and plan to put all my energy to be in great shape as soon as possible… a simple devotion to what I love most – football!”

Mkhitaryan a doubt for the Manchester derby

Mkhitaryan joined as the Bundesliga’s highest rated player last season (7.90). Only Jefferson Montero (every 7.7 mins) requires fewer minutes per attempted dribble than Mkhitaryan (8.4 mins) in the Premier League this season.
